- Permits can be obtained in advance. They are $3 per person but kids under eighteen are free. Each campsite closes one day per week. Anini and Salt Pond are closed on Tuesday. Anahola is closed on Thursday. Hanalei is the exception, it is only open Friday and Saturday.

- Permits are free, but must be obtained from the Kamehameha School (previously Bishop Estate), which owns most of Waipio Valley. Call them as soon as possible to get the dates cleared. As soon as they are, they will send you an application.
